I am Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics S. Cognetti de Martiis, Faculty of Political
Sciences, University
of Torino.
I have been a Senior Lecturer at SPRU, University
of Sussex, Senior Research Fellow
at RSCAS - Robert Schuman Centre for
Advanced Studies - European University Institute and Research Fellow at BETA, Université Louis Pasteur (Strasbourg),
and at MERIT, Maastricht University.
I obtained my PhD from the Department of Economics, Maastricht University.
My research interests include Economics of Science, Economics of
Knowledge Production and Distribution, Science and Technology Policy, Political
Economy of Science and Technology, ICT and Internet Economics and
Development Economics. My core research area is the socio-economic analysis
of university research behaviour and its links to innovation and economic
development.
In 1999 I published The Economics of Knowledge Production,
with Edward Elgar (freely available PDF
version of the book is available here)
With Amon Salter and Ed Steinmueller, I edited the book "Science and Innovation:
Rethinking the Rationales for Funding and Governance", Edward Elgar, 2003 (available
in hardcover and paperback)
I am one of the editors of the journal Information
Economics and Policy.
